History speaks of an era when the tribes of Northern Europe executed a huge influence over the formation of our society and culture. As the Romans withdrew from Britain, we are told of the emergence of the Germanic Tribes. the North Sea tribes and the peoples of the Baltic migrated westward to find a new land. The Jutes, Angles, Frisians and Saxons left their  homelands behind them, and with their families and possessions, their spiritual and cultural values, their creation myths and folk-tales, their social structure and lore codes, they found for themselves as a new land - a land in which to put down new roots and flourish. With them  they brought their cultural and trade networks . From the tin mines of Cornwall into Europe and beyond , thru the Frankish, Burgundian and Roman Empires, to Constantinople and across the Mediterranean seas to North Africa. tracking silver and gold, Furs and fine linens and weapons, knowledge and learning's from the far corners of the known world.

It is their history; the folk tales and sagas of the Germanic peoples, that inspire us today. The Sagas of Kings and Warriors, of Gods and Heroes, of Shield Maidens and Peace Weavers, of Wish Maidens and Queens. Their myths and their legends, sagas of Kings descended from Gods, of tangled fates and boundless curses, Of warriors and monsters, of heroes. and Dragons, of burial mounds and Golden hoards, An age when the gods had a hand in the fate of man, and  the sword stood proud; in the hands of man.

Ormsgard

"Ormsgard" is the modern, Anglicised version of the Old Icelandic/Norse compound noun Ormgaršr, Serpent-garden i.e. Snake pit. The prefix 'Ormr' means 'serpent, snake' and 'garšr' literally translates as 'yard, gard or garden'.
